The Chippewa Valley Regional Airport is getting its remodeling project off the ground.
A ground breaking ceremony was held Thursday.
Airport Manager Charity Speich says the project is primarily being done to meet current security requirements from the Transportation Security Administration.
She says the building also needs more space to accommodate all of the passengers, and needs new heating and cooling systems which are hard to repair.
The feds are providing almost $4.8 million for the project, while the state and the airport are putting up $126,000 each.
Speich says the remodeling should be completed by early next year.
